ORTHODONTIC PREVENTION OF MALALLIGNMENT OF TEETH AND JAWS.

Oral Prophylaxis

Oral prophylaxis includes Scaling and polishing of teeth. It should be done yearly once as prescribed by American dental association, to minimize tartar/ calculus build up.
Scaling at our centre is done using Ultra sonic scalers. Scaling removes calculus and stains very effectively. It is essential for maintaining the supporting structures of a tooth, which includes surrounding gums/ gingiva and
underlying bone in healthy condition. Thus prolonging life of a tooth.
Calculus build up invades into the gums and bone, weakening the tooth, which further leads to tooth loss.

X-Ray Screening

There are certain areas of the oral cavity e.g. in between two teeth which are not often visible to the naked eye.
Any developing pathology or decay in such areas can be effectively and accurately diagnosed with the help of X-rays.

Pit & Fissure sealants

Newly erupted permanent and deciduous/ milk teeth have very deep and pronounced grooves and fissures. They provide a perfect nidus for food and bacteria lodgement, which leads to decay.

Tooth Fluoridation

Treating a tooth with local application of fluoride in areas where fluoride levels in potable water is very low is very important and mandatory. Fluoride helps in toughening the interprismatic structure of the tooth. Hardened tooth structure doesn’t allow the bacterial acids to cause decay easily.
